On 12 March 2024, CTSAMVM held its Technical Committee meeting in Juba where the Chairperson delivered his remarks.

Maj. Gen. Hailu Gonfa Eddosa stated that there have been no significant ceasefire incidents in the past month and no concrete developments concerning the NUF. “The formation of the NUF is a vital prerequisite for the upcoming elections as only about 6% of the planned 83,000-strong NUF have been deployed. The 8th of March marks the globally celebrated International Women’s Day, used for recognizing the efforts of women in the growth and development of the society. It’s a focal point in women’s rights movement, bringing attention to issues of gender equality, reproductive rights and violence and abuse against women. More so, it celebrates the social, economic, cultural, and political achievement of women.

In the call for accelerating gender parity, there are significant activities witnessed worldwide as groups come together to celebrate women’s achievements and rally for women’s equality. In commemoration of International Women’s day, the Protection of Civilians cluster led by the CTSAMVM Head of Gender Dr Yasmin Elhashmi organised a one day workshop in Juba today under the theme “Women united for peace in South Sudan”.

The workshop was an opportunity to discuss about the gender reports that we have been focusing on for the past year as well as to enhance collaboration with our various partners.
