The leadership of CTSAMVM briefed Ethiopian National Defence Forces Chief of Staff Field Marshal General Birhanu Jula on the status of South Sudan’s peace process and the mechanism’s ongoing operations.
Outgoing CTSAMVM Chairperson Maj. Gen. Teshome Ayana highlighted the fragile security situation in South Sudan, citing delays in implementing the transitional security arrangements. He thanked the Ethiopian Government and the Ethiopian National Defence Forces for their continued support of the peace monitoring mission.
Incoming Chairperson Maj. Gen. Dr. Hailu Endashaw Atomsa reaffirmed CTSAMVM’s commitment to working with the RTGoNU and all Signatories to the Revitalized Peace Agreement to advance lasting peace.
In response, Field Marshal Birhanu praised Maj. Gen. Ayana, for his service during a period marked by challenges, pledged Ethiopia’s continued support for CTSAMVM, the implementation of the PCTSA, and the broader peace process in South Sudan.
