During their talks, the Chairperson provided a comprehensive briefing on the current security situation, the progress and challenges related to the implementation of the Transitional Security Arrangements under Chapter II of the R-ARCSS, and CTSAMVM’s future operational priorities. He stressed the need for full compliance with the ceasefire by all parties, noting that sustained restraint, confidence-building measures, and inclusive political dialogue are essential for consolidating peace and preventing a relapse into conflict. He also underscored the importance of continued international support to strengthen CTSAMVM’s capacity for effective monitoring, verification, and reporting in line with its mandate. In response, Ambassador Djama updated the Chairperson on key initiatives led by his office and reaffirmed his commitment to ongoing political support for the CTSAMVM mission. He highlighted IGAD’s strong recognition of the Mechanism’s indispensable role in promoting accountability, transparency, and long-term stability in South Sudan.
