The meeting provided an opportunity for the incoming CTSAMVM leadership, Maj. Gen. Dr. Hailu Atomsa and Maj. Gen. Mohamed Elbashir to engage with the Interim Chairperson of RJMEC, Ambassador Maj. Gen. (Ret.) George Aggrey Owinow, and reaffirm the strong working relationship between the two mechanisms in support of the implementation of the R-ARCSS.
During the discussions, they acknowledged the resource constraints facing CTSAMVM but commended the mechanism for its continued commitment to carrying out its mandate despite these challenges. They also underscored the critical role of CTSAMVM in monitoring, verifying, and reporting compliance with the PCTSA.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to strengthening collaboration between RJMEC and CTSAMVM in the implementation of their respective mandates, with the common objective of advancing lasting peace, security, and stability in South Sudan.
