CTSAMVM leadership met with the Minister-Counsellor and Deputy Head of Mission of the Norwegian Embassy in Juba, Ms. Inger Elisabeth Meyer, to discuss Norway’s continued support for peace, stability, and conflict resolution efforts in South Sudan.
The meeting highlighted Norway’s substantial support to CTSAMVM since its establishment, including financial and in-kind contributions to the Mechanism’s monitoring, verification, and reporting activities.
Ms. Meyer reaffirmed Norway’s appreciation for CTSAMVM’s work and noted that reports produced by the Mechanism have informed Norway’s political engagement and decision-making, particularly regarding incidents. She also expressed hope for tangible outcomes as the R-ARCSS approaches the end of the transitional period.
Maj. Gen. Teshome emphasized that the R-ARCSS remains the most credible framework for achieving sustainable and inclusive peace in South Sudan, while stressing that continued political commitment and international support are essential. The meeting further underscored the importance of sustained Norwegian political and financial support to CTSAMVM’s ground operations, which remain central to monitoring and verifying the implementation of the peace agreement across the country.
