The leadership of CTSAMVM met with Mr. Lothar Jaschke, Chargé D’Affaires of the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of South Sudan, to discuss the country’s current security situation and implementation of Chapter II of the 2018 Revitalized Peace Agreement.
The meeting reviewed security developments across the country, with both sides noting persistent violations of the permanent ceasefire agreement. Maj. Gen. Teshome briefed Mr. Jaschke on CTSAMVM’s ongoing monitoring and verification activities, as well as challenges facing the mechanism.
Mr. Jaschke reiterated the EU’s continued support for CTSAMVM’s mandate, emphasizing the importance of sustained monitoring and accountability for ceasefire violations, adding that the mechanism is the eyes and ears of the peace agreement.
