The outgoing and incoming Chairpersons of the CTSAMVM, Maj. Gen. Teshome Ayana and Maj. Gen. Dr. Hailu Atomsa, and the Deputy Chairperson, Maj. Gen. Mohamed Elsheikh paid a courtesy visit to the Ambassador of the Republic of Sudan to South Sudan, H.E. Lt. Gen. Issam Mohammed Karrar, at the Sudanese Embassy in Juba.
During the meeting, Maj. Gen. Teshome provided a comprehensive briefing on the security situation and the mechanism’s ongoing monitoring, verification, and reporting activities across South Sudan, emphasizing, “CTSAMVM remains firmly convinced that the Revitalized Peace Agreement continues to provide the most credible and comprehensive framework for achieving sustainable and inclusive peace in South Sudan”.
Ambassador Karrar acknowledged the mechanism’s contribution to promoting peace, security, and stability in the country, noting that its impartial monitoring and reporting remain essential to building confidence among the peace partners.
As one of the guarantors of the R-ARCSS, Sudan continues to play an important role in supporting the implementation of the peace agreement. CTSAMVM’s leadership reiterated the importance of unified regional and international support in addressing emerging challenges and maintaining momentum in implementing the ceasefire agreement.
Ambassador Karrar reaffirmed Sudan’s commitment to supporting CTSAMVM in the execution of its mandate and pledged his country’s continued advocacy for lasting peace and stability in South Sudan.
