Today, a delegation from CTSAMVM met with H.E. Hassan Robleh Mahamoud, the Ambassador of Djibouti to South Sudan.
During the meeting, Maj. Gen. Teshome briefed the ambassador on CTSAMVM’s mandate, highlighting the need for support from IGAD member states to support the mechanism. The discussions also focused on strengthening cooperation between CTSAMVM and Djibouti, including ways to enhance support for the mechanism during the remainder of the transitional period.
Ambassador Mahamoud commended CTSAMVM for its role in monitoring, verifying, and reporting on compliance with the ceasefire provisions of the R-ARCSS, stating, “We continue to advocate for CTSAMVM to ensure that it continues to conduct its mandate”. He underscored the importance of the mechanism in providing credible, factual information on the implementation of the peace agreement and reaffirmed Djibouti’s continued support for the peace process in South Sudan.
