The newly appointed European Union Ambassador to South Sudan, His Excellency Pelle Enersson, conducted his first visit to the headquarters of CTSAMVM in Juba today.
The Ambassador was warmly received by the CTSAMVM Chairperson, Maj. Gen. Teshome Ayana, who welcomed him to South Sudan and remarked that the EU’s financial and diplomatic support has been indispensable in enabling CTSAMVM to discharge its mandate under Chapter 2 of the R-ARCSS.
Ambassador Enersson received a briefing on the current security situation across the country and its direct impact on CTSAMVM’s critical monitoring, verification, and reporting operations on the ground.
Looking to the future, the Chairperson appealed to Ambassador Enersson and the EU to sustain its crucial support. “Renewed support at this critical juncture will not only stabilize our operations, but also send a powerful signal of solidarity to the people of South Sudan that the international community stands with them in their quest for peace.” Maj. Gen. Teshome stated.
For his part, Ambassador Enersson expressed his gratitude for the detailed briefing and reaffirmed the European Union’s commitment to supporting the peace process in the country.
