Today, CTSAMVM leadership met with H.E. Ma Qiang, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to South Sudan, at the Chinese Embassy in Juba.
Outgoing Chairperson, Maj. Gen. Teshome expressed his appreciation for China’s steadfast support of CTSAMVM’s operational mandate in South Sudan over the years, stating, “ China has been a partner to CTSAMVM, and a key donor to the mechanism”. He also highlighted operations conducted by the mechanism’s mobile MVTs, outlining the progress achieved as well as the ongoing challenges facing the implementation of the security arrangements.
The incoming Chairperson, Maj. Gen. Dr. Hailu acknowledged the support received from donor countries, remarking that continued collaboration is needed to ensure that CTSAMVM achieves its mandate in full as stipulated in Chapter II of the Revitalized Peace Agreement.
Ambassador Ma Qiang noted the efforts of CTSAMVM’s reporting framework and assured the delegation that China would continue to support the people of South Sudan in their pursuit of lasting peace and stability.
This engagement reaffirmed the importance of sustained collaboration between CTSAMVM and international partners in supporting South Sudan’s peace process.
