During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on the recurrence of violence in various locations, access constraints, and operational challenges, noting its implications for the state of South Sudan’s peace process.
Mr. Maitland reiterated UNMISS’s commitment to supporting mechanisms that promote stability and accountability across South Sudan. Both parties acknowledged the shared objectives between UNMISS and CTSAMVM, especially in areas of peace monitoring, community protection, and confidence-building among stakeholders.
The discussions also underscored the importance of continued engagement and collaboration to ensure that regional and international partners remain actively involved in South Sudan’s peace process.
