Yesterday, the Chairperson of CTSAMVM, Maj. Gen. Teshome Anagaw, met with H.E. Ma Qiang, the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the Republic of South Sudan at the Chinese Embassy in Juba.
The meeting focused on the current status of South Sudan’s peace agreement and the critical monitoring role played by CTSAMVM. Maj. Gen. Teshome provided a brief on the status of the permanent ceasefire. He detailed CTSAMVM’s recent activities, offering an overview of incidents documented by the mechanism’s monitoring and verification teams across the country; underscoring both the progress made and the ongoing challenges in the implementation of the security arrangements.
Maj. Gen. Teshome also thanked Ambassador Ma for his active participation in dialogue and China’s steadfast support for CTSAMVM. “Your Embassy’s active participation in dialogue and unwavering support to our mechanism significantly enhance the credibility, neutrality, and operational effectiveness of our work,” Maj. Gen. Teshome stated, highlighting the importance of international backing for CTSAMVM operations.
