Today, Maj. Gen. Yitayal Gelaw and Maj. Gen. Teshome Ayana, the outgoing and incoming Chairpersons of CTSAMVM, paid a courtesy call to H.E. Ambassador Ma Qiang, the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to South Sudan, at the Chinese Embassy in Juba.
Ambassador Ma commended CTSAMVM for its role, as outlined in Chapter II of the R-ARCSS, in monitoring, verifying, and reporting on compliance with the permanent ceasefire arrangements. He emphasized the importance of the mechanism in safeguarding peace and stability in the country.
Furthermore, Ambassador Ma reaffirmed China’s support for CTSAMVM’s efforts and pledged continued advocacy for lasting peace in South Sudan.
The CTSAMVM leadership expressed appreciation for China’s enduring friendship and strategic partnership. China, a key donor to CTSAMVM, has been instrumental in providing both financial and in-kind support to the mechanism.
