Today, the newly appointed Ambassador of the United Kingdom to South Sudan visited the CTSAMVM headquarters in Juba, underscoring the importance of collaborative efforts to ensure lasting peace in South Sudan.
During the visit, Ambassador David Ashley received a detailed briefing on CTSAMVM’s operations, including the scope of its mandate, monitoring activities, and the current security situation across South Sudan. CTSAMVM officials also highlighted the progress and challenges faced in implementing the R-ARCSS.
Ambassador Ashley acknowledged the critical role CTSAMVM plays in providing impartial “ground-truth” information, emphasizing that accurate, on-the-ground reporting is essential to supporting the peace process and ensuring accountability among all parties.
He commended CTSAMVM’s commitment, recognizing the mechanism’s efforts in the face of challenging circumstances, and reaffirmed the United Kingdom’s support for South Sudan’s path toward peace and stability.
