28 May – Maj. Gen. Yitayal Gelaw paid a courtesy visit to Her Excellency Tamara Mona, Ambassador of Switzerland to Ethiopia and South Sudan.
The meeting primarily focused on the recent developments in the implementation of Chapter 2 of the Revitalized Agreement. A significant part of the discussion was dedicated to the crucial role of the Permanent Ceasefire and Transitional Security Arrangements (PCTSA) and the monitoring, verification, and reporting efforts of CTSAMVM.
Maj. Gen. Yitayal also expressed concerns over the deteriorating security situation in the country and emphasized the role of sustained international engagement, along with renewed political, technical, and financial support, in safeguarding the hard-won gains of the peace process.
Ambassador Mona reiterated Switzerland’s unwavering commitment to the peace process, commending CTSAMVM for its role. She reaffirmed Switzerland’s ongoing support for the mission, recognizing its essential role in promoting peace, stability, and accountability in South Sudan and the broader region.
