On May 23, 2024, the Ceasefire and Transitional Security Arrangements Monitoring and Verification Mechanism (CTSAMVM) visited the Japanese Embassy in Juba, South Sudan. The visit aimed to strengthen diplomatic ties and cooperation between CTSAMVM and Japan. During the visit, discussions focused on the ongoing peace process in South Sudan and Japan’s support for the CTSAMVM’s efforts to monitor and verify the ceasefire and transitional security arrangements under the Revitalized Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in the Republic of South Sudan (R-ARCSS).
The meeting underscored Japan’s continued commitment to supporting the implementation of the peace agreement and enhancing the capacity of CTSAMVM to fulfill its mandate effectively.
This visit also highlights the important role of international partnerships in sustaining peace processes and the significant contributions of countries like Japan in fostering stability in conflict-affected regions.
