CTSAMVM is currently participating in a two-day workshop at the Palm Africa Hotel in Juba. This workshop, focused on conflict-sensitive reporting, is organized by the Union of Journalists in South Sudan (UJOSS) and supported by UNMISS. The initiative aims to equip journalists with the skills and knowledge needed to report responsibly, avoid inflammatory language, and contribute to constructive public discourse during times of tension and uncertainty in the country.

The workshop includes 60 participants, primarily from the media fraternity in South Sudan, along with representatives from UJOSS, the National Media Authority, the National Transitional Committee (NTC), spokespersons for the six organized forces, regional and international media partners, RJMEC, the African Union (AU), IGAD, UNESCO, UNDP, UNMISS ROLSIS, CPI, FORCE PIO, and UNPOL PIO.

The workshop covers several key topics, including principles of conflict-sensitive journalism, ethical reporting in conflict situations, strategies for avoiding hate speech and misinformation, the media’s role in peacebuilding, safety and security measures for journalists in conflict zones, and practical case studies and interactive sessions.
