(19/7/2023)-Juba-South Sudan-The Chairman of CTSAMVM, Maj Gen. Hailu Gonfa Edossa accompanied by his Deputy, Brig Gen Yassir Hassab Alla, Programs Manager, Musoke George and Chief of Operations Mutaz Mohamed held a meeting with the Ambassador of Türkiye, His Excellency Erdem Mutaf today.
The Ambassador was briefed on the operations of CTSAMVM the structure of the mechanism and the status of the implementation of the PCTSA.
He was also briefed on the challenges that the mechanism is currently facing.
The Chairperson of CTSAMVM. Maj Gen, Hailu Gonfa said that CTSAMVM is at a stage where it is required to be fully operational to be able to monitor and report on the pending critical tasks of the Transitional Period.
He further said that CTSAMVM is continuing to implement its mandate of Monitoring, Verifying and Reporting on the compliance to the Permanent Ceasefire and Transitional Security Arrangements by the Parties.
“Generally, the ceasefire has been holding in most States of South Sudan.” Maj Gen Hailu Gonfa.
On his part, the Ambassador of Türkiye, His Excellency Erdem Mutaf acknowledged the work of CTSAMVM noting that it is important for the Peace implementation in South Sudan.
He said that the government of Turkiye is committed to supporting the mechanism and the Embassy will continue to engage with CTSAMVM and support where they can.
