South Sudan Peace Monitoring

CTSAMVM (Ceasefire & Transitional Security Arrangements Monitoring & Verification Mechanism) is the multinational body that monitors compliance with the South Sudan peace agreement signed in 2018. CTSAMVM has Monitoring and Verification Teams (MVTs) located in 9 of the most conflict affected areas of the country. The MVTs patrol their areas of responsibility and gather information on potential violations of the agreement which they immediately report to their headquarters in Juba for further action.

The 8th of March marks the globally celebrated International Women’s Day, used for recognizing the efforts of women in the growth and development of the society. It’s a focal point in women’s rights movement, bringing attention to issues of gender equality, reproductive rights and violence and abuse against women. More so, it celebrates the social, economic, cultural, and political achievement of women.

In commemoration of International Women’s day, the Protection of Civilians cluster led by the CTSAMVM Head of Gender Dr Yasmin Elhashmi organised a one day workshop in Juba today under the theme “Women united for peace in South Sudan”.

The Chairperson of CTSAMVM, Maj Gen Hailu Gonfa Eddosa, accompanied by the Legal Advisor, Lt Col Felix Kioko paid a courtesy call to the Kenya Chief of Defence Forces, General Francis Ogolla at the Defence Headquarters in Nairobi on 23rd February.
