CTSAMVM Civil Affairs is attending a two-day workshop on Participatory Gender-Sensitive Flood Preparedness Training for Women-Led CSOs which started today and ends tomorrow. It is organised by UNMISS Civil Affairs Division and South Sudan Women Empowerment Network (SSWEN).
The workshop today focussed on recognizing how climate shocks, gender norms, conflict dynamics, and governance constraints and humanitarian pressures interact within the different States and how the women led CSO’s can better be equipped to deal with issues on protection, conflict-related sexual violence (CRSV) amongst other outcomes emanating from climate change/floods.
The participants are drawn from various states in the country.
The 2025 Women, Peace and Security (WPS) Conflict Tracker Analysis highlights a deterioration in protection and civic space for women and girls in South Sudan, including increased conflict-related sexual violence (CRSV), arbitrary arrests of women, and escalating attacks on girls’ education. Climate shocks, displacement, and food insecurity amplify these pressures and further constrain women’s participation in community and public decision-making.
