Today, Maj. Gen. Teshome Anagawe held a diplomatic meeting with H.E. Ambassador Olivia Leslie, the Irish Ambassador to Ethiopia and South Sudan. The engagement formed part of CTSAMVM’s ongoing outreach to key partners and stakeholders, aimed at providing updates on the current security situation in South Sudan, the status of the Permanent Ceasefire, and the Mechanism’s operational activities.
During the meeting, the Chairperson underscored the critical importance of full adherence to the ceasefire by all parties, emphasizing that sustained restraint, trust-building, and inclusive dialogue remain essential for consolidating peace and preventing a relapse into conflict. He further highlighted the need for continued international support to strengthen monitoring, verification, and reporting efforts under CTSAMVM’s mandate.
In response, Ambassador Leslie reaffirmed Ireland’s strong commitment to the peace process, pledging continued political and financial support to the CTSAMVM mission. She emphasized Ireland’s recognition of the Mechanism’s vital role in promoting accountability, transparency, and stability in South Sudan.
