Today, Maj. Gen. Teshome Anagaw, the incoming Chairperson, presented his credentials to H.E. Ambassador Akuei Bona Malwal, the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of South Sudan in Juba.
Various issues were discussed during the meeting, including the increasingly complex operational challenges faced by the CTSAMVM, which pose a significant threat to the effectiveness of the mechanism’s mandate. The outgoing Chairperson, Maj. Gen. Yitayal remarked, “These challenges, if left unresolved, pose a direct risk to the integrity of the peace monitoring process.” He emphasized the need for ongoing political facilitation to ensure that these issues are addressed promptly and through the appropriate diplomatic channels, per established agreements and procedures.
