(12/11/2023-Juba-South Sudan)-CTSAMVM held its 3rd extra-ordinary meeting in Juba today.
The agenda for the meeting was to inform the board members of the revised Terms of reference for the Chairperson of CTSAMVM and for the Board, and to present the agreed draft Terms of Reference for the CTC for approval.
During his opening remarks at the Board meeting, the Chairperson of CTSAMVM Maj Gen Hailu Gonfa Eddosa said that it is the responsibility of the Board to approve the Terms of Reference of the CTC.
He also said that CTSAMVM has a vital role within the context of the peace process as it provides IGAD, R-JMEC and the Parties with the information necessary for remedial action and accountability in the case of violations of the R-ARCSS, and verified ‘ground-truth’ reports on the progress of implementation of the security arrangements of the R-ARCSS.
Meanwhile, the R-JMEC Interim Chairperson, H.E Amb. Maj Gen (rtd) Charles Tai Gitua while addressing the members noted that the approval of the CTC ToR will unlock the work of the CTC that has stalled since April this year.
He further noted that importantly, the nine pending violation reports will immediately be processed, submitted to the R-JMEC and IGAD, and finally published which will enable the Parties to act and provide the necessary remedies to the violations, including accountability.
