Chairperson of Ceasefire & Transitional Security Arrangements Monitoring & Verification Mechanism (CTSAMVM)

Before assuming his current role as Chairperson of the Ceasefire and Transitional Security
Arrangements Monitoring and Verification Mechanism (CTSAMVM) in South Sudan on
1 July 2025, Major General Teshome served as Deputy Commander of the Ethiopian
Defense Forces Operational Main Department (2018–2025).

Major General Teshome has held several key leadership positions throughout his
distinguished military career. He served as Head of Human Resources at the
Defense Intelligence Department (2017–2018), Military Attaché to South Africa
(2014–2017), and Head of Plan and Report at the Ethiopian Defense Forces
General Headquarters (2011–2014). Prior to that, he was Head of Division in the
Operations Department (2007–2011) and Head of Division in the Training
Department (2002–2007). He also commanded a brigade in charge of operations
from 2000 to 2002.

Major General Teshome holds a Master of Arts in Leadership and Good Governance from
the Ethiopian Civil Service University (2019) and a Bachelor of Arts in
Military Science and Leadership from the Ethiopian Defense University.

Born in 1971 in Gojam, Amhara Region, Ethiopia, he is married.

In May 2025, he was nominated by the Ethiopian Defense Forces Chief of General
Staff and subsequently endorsed by the IGAD Executive Secretary to lead
CTSAMVM, with his appointment taking effect on 1 July 2025.
