Chairman’s Opening Remarks To CTSAMVM Technical Committee Meeting-26th March 2021

Opening Remarks

Major General Teshome Gemechu Aderie

Chairman, CTSAMVM

the Technical Committee Meeting

26 March 2021

Dear Senior Party Representatives,

CTSAMVM Deputy Chairman,

CTSAMVM Chief of Staff,

Deputy Chief of Staff,

Good morning,

Thank you for attending this meeting. Just like last month we are meeting under very extra ordinary circumstances with the continued surge in COVID-19 cases here in South Sudan and the measures we must take to not only comply with the Government’s directives but also to assure all of our safety. Against this very difficult challenge we must continue with our critical reporting mandate especially more than one year after the formation of the Revitalized Transitional Government of National Unity.

The purpose of this meeting is to update you on the status of the implementation of the permanent ceasefire, and the transitional security arrangements since the last meeting of CTC in February and to receive your input and recommendations on the way forward. Our report will consist of a briefing presentation on important events and the pre-

transitional activities that remain outstanding such as cantonment, training, graduation of the Necessary Unified Forces and occupation of civilian buildings. It will also include one violation report concerning denial of access in Warrap and Eastern Equatoria States. This violation report was issued to you prior to today’s meeting and should be in your information packet. Additionally, we have updates for members on incidents reported at the last CTC.

Having said this, I look forward to a productive and successful meeting and as usual CTSAMVM highly values your opinions and recommendations which are very valuable to our reports. With this few remarks I officially declare this meeting open.

Thank you very much.
